How to Dress For an Interview

Do you know, the way to dress can affect a professionalism level of someone? A professional look can make people think you are smart, capable, agile, precise, can be invited to cooperate and be trustworthy. That is why, make sure to dress properly so that it can show your professional look.

Here are tips from Elan Image Management for your interview.

Do’s

Wear a blazer or semi-jacket to get a professional look instantly. This dressing can give a good first impression to the company.

If you want to wear skirt or overall dress, make sure it is not more than 2 inch above your knee.
If you are interviewed by a bit conservative company, always wear stockings under your skirt. Choose neutral color stockings or the closest to your skin color. You can also pick black, grey, or blue as long as it doesn’t contrast to your skirt you are wearing.

Do your hair as neat as possible.  Choose hair style or hair color which is the closest to professional look.  Untreated hair can decrease interviews’ appraisal to you.
Don’t forget to bring a bag to carry all your things will be needed during the interview. You can bring leather one to boost your professional style.

Don’ts

It will be better if you don’t bring a less-quality bag, imitation jewelry, or low-heel shoes. It can decrease your professional impression.  But also, don’t wear too much jewelry, so that can give you a glamorous style. Just simply wear simple accessories; small earrings, beautiful scarf, or a wedding ring if you are married.

For shoes, avoid sandal or flat sandals. But you can wear conventional shoes like mary jane shoes, slingbakcs shoes, or open-toe pumps.

Avoid sporty or party dresses. Avoid tank tops, mini-skirts, or too-openly dress.
Wearing a lacy dress, flowery ones, or metallic-colored ones generally will decrease your professional impression.
Never wearing a crumpled dress or scuffed shoes, too thick make-ups, or something which can make your look less-neat in your interview.
At last, make sure how you dress, how you speak, how you move can give a good first impression to your interviewers. Good Luck!
